Caramel Macchiato

Caramel has been one of the more popular flavors added to coffee. It is creamy and sweet, which compliments natural coffee flavors quite well for some. As a syrup, it increases the sweetness of your coffee overall and thickens the body. We prefer to use homemade caramel syrup (there are lots of recipes online), but commercial caramel syrups work for this recipe too.

  • NESCAFÉ GOLD
  • NESTLÉ Fresh Milk
  • Caramel syrup
  • Sugar syrup

  • 1 Pot or pan 
  • 1 Whisk

Caramel Macchiato recipe

    For commercial syrup users: 

    • Make a simple sugar syrup with a 1:2 ratio of water to sugar. To start, try mixing 200g of white sugar with 100ml water. Bring water to a boil and simply add the sugar. Stir until smooth and even. 
    • Put in 1 teaspoon of NESCAFÉ GOLD into your cup.  
    • Microwave NESTLÉ Fresh Milk for 10-15 seconds.  
    • Add warm milk to NESCAFÉ GOLD to the cup. Mix until smooth and even. 
    • Add 20ml sugar syrup.  
    • Add 30ml caramel syrup. Mix until smooth and even. 

     

    OPTIONAL 

    • Add whipping cream on top, drizzle with additional caramel syrup. Enjoy! 

     

    For homemade syrup users: 

    ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS 

    Butter (unsalted is ideal) 

    White sugar 

    NESTLÉ All Purpose Cream

     

    • Heat 200g of white sugar, and 200ml water in a pan. 
    • Once the mixture starts boiling, immediately add 90g of butter. Mix well for evenness, and to avoid burning some of the sugar. 
    • Prepare 120ml NESTLÉ All Purpose Cream. Pour in slowly, in around 3-4 batches. Mix evenly to make your caramel syrup consistent. Pouring too fast will cool mixture too much, too fast— affecting the quality of your syrup. 
    • If there is too much separation, whisk until solids and liquids re-incorporate. This is important for a smooth finished product. 
    • Examine thickness of syrup, add water to loosen up if the resulting mixture is too thick.
