A great tasting cup of coffee is not enough
Trees are a vital part of our ecosystem. They provide nutrition, shelter, energy, medicine and livelihoods to people all around the world. Most importantly, trees absorb toxic carbon dioxide - around 2.6 billion tons of it every year! But as the world changes, our trees are at risk.
So what can we do?
We can keep planting more trees. Every tree we plant increases the amount of carbon dioxide that can be absorbed and, in turn, reduces our carbon footprint. And because we’re producing carbon dioxide all the time - through natural and industrial processes - every tree really does help.
One of the most important steps in working to improve the sustainability credentials of our coffee is to help care for the land in and around where the coffee trees grow.
At NESCAFÉ, we have a team dedicated to analysing the carbon footprint that NESCAFÉ GOLD BLEND Origins has. From growing your coffee, to producing it, and right through to the way you prepare it.
This Life Cycle Assessment has helped us understand our carbon footprint better and identify opportunities where we can improve over the years to come – such as finding partners to work with on reforestation, biodiversity and agroforestry. That way the land the coffee is grown on will be better looked after, with the aims of making it healthier and more productive.
