Iced Latte Macchiato

The Italian term “latte macchiato” is translated as “stained milk” — a fine balance of an espresso’s intense taste and a cappuccino’s robust flavours, with a creamy milk texture alongside. ​

The macchiato coffee brew is poured into the centre of the milk foam, slowly diffusing through the cloud-like milk foam to produce mellow macchiato layers for a stained appearance.​

This milk and espresso duo is the ideal cold drink for hot, sunny days; refresh your senses with this latte macchiato recipe made with NESCAFÉ!​

What you need

  • 2 tsps. (4g) NESCAFÉ Classic​
  • 2 Tbsps. (30ml) freshly boiled water (approximately 75º C)​
  • 1 tsp. (4g) brown sugar (optional)​
  • 7 medium ice cubes​
  • 160ml cold low fat milk​

Create It!

STEP ONE

Mix the instant coffee with the hot water. Stir it well and leave to chill.

STEP TWO

Add the sugar into the milk.

STEP THREE

Froth the milk with a handheld frother for 3 minutes. You’re aiming for a foam layer of 2 fingers thick - 35mm, to be precise.

STEP FOUR

Pour the foamed milk into the glass over the ice cubes.

STEP FIVE

Slowly pour the chilled coffee brew into the milk foam. Aim for the centre to create those iconic latte macchiato layers.​
