During World War II, American troops deemed the dark rich Italian coffee served at Italian cafes too intense. To cater to them, coffee shops made a “lighter” version by serving shots of espresso in full-size coffee cups and filling up the rest with hot water — and that is how the Americano was invented. ​

Ingredients

  • 2 tsps. (4g) Nescafé Classic​
  • 2 Tbsps. (30ml) freshly boiled water (approximately 75º C)​
  • 1 tsp. brown sugar (optional) ​
  • 10-12 medium ice cubes ​
  • 195 ml cold water ​

STEP ONE

Mix the instant Nescafé Classic coffee with hot water. ​

Add the sugar according to your preferred sweetness. Stir it well and set aside. ​

Add ice cubes into a tall glass.
